'The Veteran Project'
|
|
The mission of the School-Community Collaboration Project is to foster relationships between veterans and student learners and to enrich their experiences by connecting the history of the past and to the present. Each year, we choose 10 veterans to be interviewed to share your story with us.
If you are interested being interviewed and sharing with our student learners, please complete the The Veteran Project part of the registration. |
Under the direction of Mrs. Jill Lenick and Mr. William Flaherty, the 12th grade AP English learners collaborated with the 9th grade Honors American Culture learners to conduct the interviews. They will transpose the personal information collected during the interview into a written biography of the veterans service and accomplishments to be displayed. Websites will be created by the 9th graders.
Under the direction of Mrs. Julie Gelsinger, the National Art Honor Society artists will create a veterans’ portrait after sitting in on the interview sessions and getting a feel for who the veteran was while in the service. They will be framed and assembled for the Veteran's Day breakfast presentation and will be on display. They will be given to the participating veterans. Under the direction of Mr. Jeff Myrdal, Digital Media 2 and 3 photographers took the veterans current photo, collected segments of the interviews, and will edit the footage for the Living History Museum. They will be streaming the Veterans Day Assembly live on Mustang Vision YouTube channel. |
